Lexoje app privacy policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
The Lexoje app is provided by Lexoje.com (“we”). This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can see or delete it.
The app uses the same account as the website lexoje.com.
1. Without an account
The first time you open the app, it creates a random identifier for this install and sends us: the platform (Android), the system version, the phone model, the app version and the language you chose. After that, when you open it, at most once a day, it tells us the app was used that day.
We use this only to count installs and usage, and to know which versions and phones we need to support. The identifier does not say who you are and is not linked to any person until you sign in to an account.
Without an account, where you stopped reading, your shelves (Reading, Favourites, Finished), your settings and the copies of books you have read are kept only on your phone.
2. With an account
Accounts are created on the website, or with Google in the app. When you sign in, we keep:
- your email address and display name;
- your password, only in encoded form (no one can read it), or, if you sign in with Google, the email, name and identifier of your Google account;
- your notification language and the date you last signed in;
- the phone you signed in on, linked to your account, so you can see where you are signed in; the app itself keeps your sign-in key in the phone’s secure storage;
- your shelves and where you stopped in each book, so they are the same on every device;
- your private Referencat, when a book’s team has enabled them for you;
- your notifications and their preferences;
- the history of your account’s actions (for example changing your password or saving a reference), noting whether it was done in the app or on the website.
3. Notifications
If you allow notifications, Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging gives your phone a token, which we keep with your account to send you notifications. When you sign out, the token is deleted. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone’s settings.
4. Support messages
When you write to us from “Support → Contact Lexoje.com”, or write to a book’s owner, your name, email and message are sent by email to us or to the book’s owner, so we can reply.
5. What we do not collect
- your location, contacts, photos, files or microphone;
- your advertising identifier; the app has no ads;
- third-party analytics or tracking tools.
We do not sell your data. Your IP address is used only briefly to limit abuse and is not stored with installs; the server’s technical logs may contain it for a limited time, for security.
6. How we use it
- to provide the service: sign-in, syncing your shelves and Referencat, notifications;
- to answer your messages;
- to keep accounts secure and prevent abuse;
- for overall statistics (installs, versions, phones in use), seen only by the Lexoje.com administrator.
7. Who it is shared with
- Google: Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications, and Sign in with Google if you choose it;
- the providers that host our servers and send our emails, which process data only on our behalf;
- a book’s owner, when you write to them;
- other readers, only for what you yourself publish for them as a member of a book’s team (for example public Referencat).
We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers. We disclose it only when the law requires us to.
8. Security
The app talks to our servers only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored encoded, the sign-in key is kept in the phone’s secure storage, and the administration statistics are seen only by the administrator.
9. How long we keep it
- account data and what is linked to it: until the account is deleted;
- installs without an account: as long as they are needed for usage statistics;
- support messages: by email, as long as needed to answer you;
- data on your phone: until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
10. Deleting your account and your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion. To delete your account, write to us from “Support → Contact Lexoje.com” in the app or on lexoje.com, from your account’s email, and ask for it to be deleted.
Within 30 days we delete the account and what is linked to it: shelves, reading places, private Referencat, notifications, sign-in keys and links to phones. Content you published for others in a team’s book may remain part of that book, and your display name may remain in that book’s change history.
An install without an account is removed by uninstalling the app; you can also ask us to delete its data.
11. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under that age, we delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update this page and the date above. We announce important changes in the app or on the website.
13. Contact
Lexoje.com. For privacy questions or requests, write to us from “Support → Contact Lexoje.com” in the app or on the website lexoje.com.
